Five activists of the BJP's youth wing were arrested today for defacing the office of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor here, police said.
The members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) came to the cantonment police today to enquire about the case against them when they were arrested, police sources said.
A case has been registered against them under various IPC sections, including 143 (unlawful assembly) and 147 (guilty of rioting), they said.
The activists were later released on bail.
The workers raised slogans, poured black oil in front of Tharoor's office yesterday demanding his apology for his controversial remarks that the BJP, if voted to power again, would rewrite the Constitution and pave the way for creation of a "Hindu Pakistan."
