Top-seed Nikki Poonacha posts easy victory

Top-seed Nikki Poonacha outplayed qualifier Aryan Lakshman 6-2, 6-1 to sail into the quarterfinals of the men's singles in the Sumanth & Co AITA ranking tennis tournament at MPTA@KTC here on Tuesday.

The national champion defeated the 14-year old Lakshman in an hour and 10 minutes.

Kaza Vinayak Sharma, another leading player in the field, had it easy as his opponent Samyukth Balaji conceded after losing the first 6-1.

Results: Women's singles (2nd round): Ramya beat Gayathri Menon 6-4, 6-2; Avishka Gupta beat Lavanya 6-0, 6-0; Kundana Sri beat Yuvashree 6-1, 6-1; Kavya beat Avanthika Reddy 6-1, 6-1.

Smriti Bhasin beat Sai Avantika 6-2, 6-3; Tejasvi beat Deepalakshmi 6-0, 6-3; Nithyaraj beat Joell Nichole 6-2, 6-4; Aarthi Muniyan beat S R Ananya 6-1, 6-1.

Men's singles (2nd round): Nikki Poonacha beat Aryan Lakshmanan 6-2, 6-1; Neeraj Elangovan beat Pragadheesh 6-0, 6 -1; Gokul Suresh beat Tarun Anirudh 6-0, 6-3; Arjun Mahadev beat Ribhav Ravikiran 6-1, 6-1.

Lohith Aksha beat Siddharth Arya 4-6, 7-5, 7-5; Kavin Masilamani beat G Manish 6-3, 6-2; Deepak Senthil Kumar beat Krishna Teja Raja 6-2,6-2; Kaza Vinayak Sharma beat Samyukth Balaji 6-1 (conceded).
