Six persons have decamped with a Toyota Fortuner car after allegedly assaulting the SUV's driver and dumping him near the AIIMS, the police said today.
According to police, one of the six accused was in police uniform when he stopped 35-year-old Ravi, who was on his way to Patiala to deliver some goods, near west Delhi's Rajouri Garden area.
It said Ravi works as a driver for a Gurgaon-based businessman who is currently out of India.
The police said when Ravi was asked by a man in police uniform to stop and show papers relating to his vehicle.
As Ravi opened the gate of the SUV to show him the papers, the accused pulled out the vehicle keys and immediately five more men emerged from a Honda City car parked there and pushed Ravi to the rear seat of his vehicle, police said.
Four men sat in Ravi's SUV while the other two accused followed the victim's vehicle in their Honda City car, the police said.
It said the accused allegedly drove both the vehicles towards AIIMS via Dhaula Kuan and dumped Ravi near the hospital after assaulting him.
After Ravi was thrown out of the SUV, he saw a police control room (PCR) vehicle and called for help after which he was admitted to AIIMS trauma centre for head injuries and was later discharged after treatment.
Police said Ravi had told the investigators that the six men were allegedly carrying three pistols with them and assaulted him using the pistols but.
A case of kidnapping, dacoity and impersonation have been registered at the Rajouri Garden police station here.
