Veteran trade union leader, E Kasim today collapsed and died while attending a meeting called by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here.
He was 69.
The leader fell down while taking part in the meeting of trade union leaders representing cashew workers to discuss the crisis in the sector.
Though he was rushed to the general hospital here, his life could not be saved, party sources said.
A district committee member of the ruling CPI(M), Kasim was currently the general secretary of the CITU-affiliated Kerala Cashew Workers Centre (KCWC).
