A 49-year-old traffic police constable was killed when a speeding truck hit him in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Wednesday.
The victim, Sanjay Patil, was on duty in Ambernath town on Tuesday when the truck knocked him down around 8.45 pm, killing him on the spot, an official at the traffic police headquarters here said.
The truck driver, identified as Sardarsingh Rambahadur Singh (27), was later arrested and booked under Indian Penal Code Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) and provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, he said.
