Traffic cop mowed down by civic bus in Thane

A traffic police constable who was controlling the vehicular movement on the busy Ghodbunder road here was fatally knocked down by a TMT bus, police said today.
PSI RK Dhamane of Kasarwadavali police station told PTI that constable Chandrakant Waman Salunke, was monitoring the vehicular traffic on the busy road last night when a TMT Bus dashed him around 11 PM, killing him on the spot.
The body of the policeman, hailing from Parner in Maharashtra has been sent for postmortem to the Thane Civil Hospital.
The driver of the TMT bus, Gajanan Shejwal has been arrested after being charged under sections 304A, 279 and 337 of the IPC and also sections 3 and 38 fo the MV Act, police said.
