Traffic police gets no pleasure in acting against violators

Inaugurating a Road Safety Drive today, Thane police commissioner Kris Pal Raghuvanshi said that traffic police personnel do not get any action against violators of traffic regulations.
He said that citizens here want restaurants to be kept open around the clock on December 31 like it is done in other countries, but in India there is lack of of discipline.
He said that citizens should adhere to discipline and follow traffic regulations to reduce the burden on traffic policemen and prevent them from taking any action.
DCP (Traffic) Srikant Paropkari said that during the year 2013, the traffic department registered as many as 4.25 lakh cases relating to violation of traffic regulations and collected fines to the tune of Rs 4.57 crore.

He also informed that special parking provisions had been made at specific locations for senior citizens.
A special facility called 'Traffline' has been initiated to automatically send a message to relatives and friends about the location of a person who is in trouble, based on his location, he said.
