Transfer principals of schools with less than 20% result: Pb

Following the poor show by government schools in class 12 result, Punjab Education Minister Aruna Chaudhary today decided to transfer principals of schools were less than 20 per cent students passed the examination.
The minister also said those teachers who have subject- wise shown less than 20 per cent result will also face departmental action, an official spokesman said.
"Principals of those schools that have exhibited less than 20 per cent result will be transferred," he said.
The 122 schools that have 90 per cent result will be awarded appreciation letters by the state government, the spokesman said.
The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) class 12 results, which were declared on May 13, has seen a dip of 14 per cent in the pass percentage as compared to last year.

The overall percentage stood at 62.36 per cent this year as compared to 76.77 per cent in 2016.
A total of 3.14 lakh students had appeared for the exam, out of which 36,376 students failed this year as against over 16,000 last year.
While 62,916 and 18,822 students got compartment and re-appear respectively, the cases of 380 students were withheld by the PSEB.
