A scheme to provide travel grant to Indian artistes holding events abroad to promote Indian culture is under review, the government today informed the Parliament.
In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Culture, Mahesh Sharma said that the ministry was considering such a scheme.
"An amount of Rs One crore has been allocated for the proposed scheme," he said.
Earlier, the ministry, in a bid to regulate government schemes for the benefits of cultural organisations and artistes across the country, had started data collection of artistes for cultural mapping of India.
So far, details of over 1 crore artistes have been collected.
