Justice N Kirubakaran passed the order yesterday on a petition by the Tamil Nadu Thiraippada Iyakkunargal Sangam represented by its Secretary RK Selvamani.
The judge then posted the matter to June 2.
The petitioner submitted that South India Film Directors Association was renamed as Tamil Nadu Thiraippada Iyakkunargal Sangam and it was duly registered with the Additional Registrar of Trade Union in 2001.
Earlier, the association, which had around 2,500 members was functioning at a rented building in Vadapalani and later shifted to its own building in Valasaravakkam here, which was intimated to the Additional Registrar of the Trade Union, he submitted.
Meanwhile, when the Union approached the Additional Registrar of Trade Union on November 14, 2016 for making amendment to its by laws, it came to know that its registration had been cancelled on the ground that the Union was not functioning, he alleged.
No notice was served before passing the order, he said adding the action was contrary to law and principles of natural justice.
He further alleged that the order showed that the notice was sent to the old union address and even no date was mentioned.
