After inaugurating the conclave, Tata Steel MD (India and SE Asia) T V Narendran said, "It is the outcome of 100 years of partnership between the local Adivasis and Moolvasis and Tata Steel."
Over a century ago, when the representatives of J N Tata came here to identify location for a proposed steel plant, the local Adivasis had accepted and helped them in establishing the first steel plant of the country, he said.
"We planned to organize the tribal conclave in a grand manner to provide opportunity to the community to share experiences and experties from across the country," he said.
The conclave will witness a gathering of more than 1500 tribal artists, thought leaders, eminent personalities and activists from more than 40 tribes of 19 states.
