A tribal leader today threatened to launch fast unto death in front of Maharashtra secretariat in Mumbai from tomorrow seeking installation of a lifesize statue of dalit icon B R Ambedkar in Trimbakeshwar near here.
"The place for installing the statue had been finalised ten years ago, but no steps were taken on ground due to politics," said All India Adivasi Sena (AIAS) chief, D N Ughade.
He said the issue was being neglected even after change of guard in Maharashtra after the defeat of the Congress-NCP government.
"I will sit on hunger strike in front of Mantralaya tomorrow. I want government to take a decision on installation of the statue before April 14, the birth anniversary of Ambedkar," he said.
