Around 500 tribals armed with traditional weapons torched the hotel and put up road blockade demanding immediate closure of the hotel after the minor girl was allegedly gangraped by the owner and two others and the victim died in course of treatment about a week ago, the police said.
The senior district officials including Sub-Divisional Officer K K Rajhans and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ashok Kumar arrived at the spot and pursued the villagers to lift the blockade, which disrupted road traffic for several hours, police said.
"The hotel owner Dilip Saw, who is one of the accused, has already been arrested and sent to jail custody," he said.
Referring to the incident, Tamilvanan said a 14-year-old tribal girl was allegedly raped by the hotel owner on December 12 but the family members lodged a complaint in this regard twelve days later only after the girl died in Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi.
