State BJP president Rahul Sinha said political rivalry should not be mixed with death, but unfortunately Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was either very busy with the celebration or intentionally did not care to send either a condolence message or a floral tribute to her one-time ministerial colleague Tapan Sikdar's cremation.
"All the parties barring TMC and the state government were physically present to pay homage. We strongly condemn her attitude," he said.
Sinha also attacked Mamata Banerjee for cancelling her scheduled north Bengal programme and booking a chartered flight to attend the KKR celebration, none of whose player is from the state.
"The way she is spending on the programme does not speak of our cash strapped position," he said while demanding an inquiry into a 'police lathicharge' outside the Eden stadium where the celebrations were going on.
