Three persons were arrested in connection with the last night's incident.
The three persons, all in their early twenties, Jobidamani, Dhatcha, Thillana, were arrested for allegedly attacking 18-year-old Kaliya alias Ranjith Kumar with sickles while he was talking with his friends near his home at Kannagi Nagar, a police release said.
Kaliya, who was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, later succumbed to injuries.
While the arrested three persons are currently lodged in Puzhal Central Prison, police are on the look out for the other two who are absconding, it said.
