Additional Sessions Judge Raj Kumar Tripathi awarded the sentence to Asab, who was coming to Delhi from Noida through DND expressway at the time of the incident, while oberving that he tried to run his sand-loaded truck over four police officials injuring one of them and did not deserve leniency.
"Except one cop, no other police official suffered injury in the case. Every citizen is supposed to respect the law of the land and follow the directions of the public servants...
"I have considered the family circumstances of convict... No justification can be given for not obeying the directions of the public servants. In the case in hand, the convict not only disobeyed the directions of police officials but also tried to run over his truck upon them, who were in police uniform and were on duty," the judge said.
