Rita and her son were pillion riding a motorcyle when her father lost control over it and a speeding truck coming from behind ran over them, they said.
The father also fell from the motorcycle and suffered injuries, police said, adding that he was rushed to hospital.
The truck driver has been taken into custody, police said.
Infuriated over the accident, the locals lodged a strong protest and police from nearby police stations had to be rushed to the spot as a precautionary measure.
