The Trump Administration will support the Tibet cause and continue to encourage dialogue between Beijing and representatives of Tibetan Government-in-Exile and the Dalai Lama, according to the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) here.
In a press statement today, CTA said US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has responded "favorably" to it and promised that the issue of political prisoners will be incorporated in the US' diplomatic engagements with China.
Tillerson considers the issues of religious freedom of Christians, Tibetan Buddhist, Uygyur Muslims and Falun Gong practitioners as "high priority", it said.
In response to the US' commitment to Sino-Tibet dialogue, the Secretary of State mentioned that while recognising Tibet as part of the People's Republic of China, he will continue to encourage dialogue between Beijing and representatives of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile and the Dalai Lama, it said.

Meanwhile, the Himachal Pradesh government has nominated Dawa Ringchain of the Tibetan community of Mcleodganj as a councillor of the recently established Dharamsala Municipal Corporation.
Dawa is the first Tibetan to be inducted in the civic body.
A notification in this regard was issued by the Urban Development Department.
A government spokesperson said that as a large number of Tibetan refugees reside in Mcleodganj and other areas of Dharamsala, the inclusion of Dawa will help the community.
