The deceased has been identified as Sanjeeva (45) who fell in the sea off the Byndoor coast. Though all the fishermen in the boat fell into the sea when the boat capsized in the rough tides, others managed to escape and reached the shores, officials said.
In another incident, one Jagannath Karkera, who went to the sea with several others, fell into the sea after their boat shook violently in the strong winds and capsized. Others reached the shore safely with the help of fishermen in other boats. The huge waves made it impossible for them to rescue Karkera, officials said. Search operations are on.
Meanwhile, the meteorological department has warned fishermen not to venture into the sea as wind with a velocity of 45 to 55 km per hour is expected to blow during the next 24 hours.
