Turmeric prices went up by a whopping Rs 300 to settle at Rs 8,800-13,800 per quintal on strong demand in the wake of restricted supplies.
Jeera common and jeera best quality also rose by Rs 500 each to conclude at Rs 13,300-13,500 and Rs 16,500-17,000 per quintal, respectively, on good demand and concerns about production.
Traders said buying support from retailers and stockists against rising export demand mainly pushed up turmeric and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.
Ajwain (per kg) 160-210, black pepper (per kg) 770-950, betel-nut (kg) 270-320, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,630-1,680 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,750-1,870.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 780-830, cardamom (colour robin) 680-700, cardamom bold 700-740, cardamom extra (bold) 900-940 and cloves 720-820.
