She was 77.
Sudha died at around 6 AM at a suburban hospital in Andheri, where she was admitted since two weeks.
"Sudha was in coma for last three days in Criticare hospital in Andheri. She passed away due to multiple organ failure resulting from an infection," Sandeep Basu, a family friend, told PTI.
Apart from Ekta Kapoor's "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi", where she played the family matriarch, Sudha acted in several TV soaps including "Missing", "Rishtey", "Sarhadein" and "Bandhan".
The actress, who was married to Bollywood veteran Om Shivpuri, is survived by her son and a daughter.
Sudha's last rites will be performed at around 2.30 pm at a crematorium in Oshiwara, Basu added.
"RIP #SudhaShivpuri ji! #Baa #kyunki," tweeted Tusshar Kapoor.
"Rip sudha shivpurii....," Divya Dutta wrote.
