Two Air Cushion Vessels of Coast Guard commissioned

Two Air Cushion Vessels (ACVs) of the Indian Coast Guard, used for surveillance, search and rescue operations, were today commissioned by the Governor of Maharashtra.
"The 21 meters long ACV with 31 tons displacement can achieve a maximum speed of 45 knots and is capable of undertaking multi-farious tasks such as surveillance, interdiction, search and rescue and rendering assistance to small boats/craft in distress at sea," a release issued by the Coast Guard said.
Both the ACVs will be based in Mumbai under the administrative and operational control of the western region commander of Coast Guard.
The sixth and eighth of the series of ACVs were designed and built by M/s Griffon Hoverworks Limited (GHL), UK, the release added.
