Two cops arrested; poppy husk, liquor recovered

Two policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector, were arrested and 168 kg of poppy husk and 66 bottles of liquor were recovered from them.
Acting on a tip off, police conducted a raid at Nathuwala police post last night and recovered poppy husk, liquor bottles and cash amounting to Rs 40,000 from ASI Jarnail Singh and Munshi Jasbir Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwaljit Singh Dhillon said today.
While Head constable Devinder Singh managed to escape, he said.
A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Excise Act has been registered against the accused, police said.
The SSP said that the accused were allegedly involved in selling poppy husk and liquor while on duty.
