Two electricity engineers caught taking Rs 50,000 bribe

Two engineers of a Gujarat Government-run power utility were today caught while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 to clear pending bills of a company, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sources said.
The two, Jayesh Chokshi and Magan Solanki, work as deputy engineer and junior engineer respectively at Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd (GETCO) here.
They had asked for a bribe of Rs 90,000 from the supervisor of a construction firm to settle its bills. The company is constructing the building for a GETCO sub-station and the bills related to work done till now. The amount was later brought down to Rs 50,000, they said.
The supervisor lodged a complaint with ACB, which laid a trap and caught the duo.
