Police said that the deceased Vadivel and his friend Tirugnanam, both 27 years, had gone to take bath in the channel a picnic spot near the alagar kovil along with three of their friends last evening.
Their friends found them missing and lodged a complaint with the Melur police. They could not search last night as it became dark and the water level in the channel also increased.
The bodies of the two men were found in the channel Near Thuglapatti sub station.
