Samiran Dutta, the judge of Kakdwip fast track court, sentenced a private tutor for murdering his 9-year-old student due to a grudge with the boy's father.
In the second case, a man was awarded the punishment for murdering his brother over a property dispute.
According to the prosecution, class III student Biswajit Haldar was strangulated to death by Bamdeb Chakraborty at Bhuban Nagar in 2007 as the boy's father was not paying heed to his request of closing down his illegal liquor den.
In the other case, Swapan Ghara stabbed his brother Bilwapada to death at Raghunathpur under Kakdwip police station on July 31, 2008, following a quarrel on property.
Swapan's wife, who was also an accused, was acquitted by the court.
