Two held for possessing drugs

Two persons, including a woman, were arrested for allegedly possessing and planning to deliver 9.10 kg charas worth Rs 12.74 lakh to their associates at suburban Malad, police said today.
Acting on a tip-off, cops laid a trap on S V Road last afternoon when a man and a woman were found moving suspiciously in the area, police said.
After being frisked by the authorities, 8 kg charas was recovered from the man, identified as Ramprit Jaiswal, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, while the same narcotic drug weighing 1.10 kg was recovered from the lady identified as Soni Mehtra, who hails from Bihar, police said.

The duo was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act, police said adding that they were investigating further to identify the persons who were to take the contraband here in the city, police said.
