Additional Superintendent of Police, Manoj Kumar Rai told reporters that the arrested accused have been identified as Sachin Tomar (30) and Suresh Jain (34).
Rai said that the duo, along with their accomplices, had ambushed a police vehicle in Bhilwada district of Rajasthan on April 18 last year and started firing indiscriminately, killing the constables and a dreaded criminal, Bhanupratap Singh.
Singh was being taken to Jhalawar from Udaipur jail in connection with a hearing in a criminal case when the incident took place.
The killing was the fallout of an old enmity between the accused and Singh, Rai said, adding that Rajasthan Police had announced a reward of Rs 10,000 on arrest of the accused.
