Two held with fake currency notes of Rs 72,000 face value

Two persons were today arrested from Amroli area here with fake currency notes of Rs 2,000 denomination with face value of Rs 72,000, police said today.
Accused Tulsi Sodhiya and Divyesh Kaleriya were arrested by the city crime branch sleuths when they were trying to circulate the fake currency of Rs 2,000 denomination in Amroli locality, DCP (Crime) Vishal Vaghela told reporters.
"They were circulating fake currency notes for 10 per cent commission. Primary investigation reveals that they had received such notes from a person from Rajkot, identified as Pratyush. More details will be revealed after he is arrested," Vaghela said.
The duo might have succeeded in circulating such notes in Surat market, but were arrested, police recovered 36 notes with face value of Rs 2,000 each from their possession, he said.
Recently, Surat police had busted a racket of printing fake currency notes using colour printer and had recovered notes with face value of Rs 4.34 lakh.
