The felicitation ceremony of Bharat Bhai Jayanti Lal Shah and T P Ashraf was attended by dignitories, including India's Ambassador to the UAE T P Seetharam.
Seetharam, praised the services of the award winners to the community. Consul General of India in Dubai, Anurag Bhushan, said the two have dedicated themselves to the cause of expatriate Indians and truly deserved the honour.
They have previously won Pravasi Bhartiya Samman.
Shah, 83, has been one of the leading Indian philanthropists in the Gulf region. He has been working for the rights of expatriate Indians, especially the wages and entitlements of labour class and the underprivileged.
Shah is the founder of the Overseas Indians Economic Forum in Dubai and the Gujarati Samaj. Listed among 100 Super Indians and 100 Most powerful Indians in the gulf region, he is the Convener of the Indian Business and Professional Council, Sharjah, and a pivotal force in strengthening India-UAE business ties.
Second award winner Ashraf, is also a philanthropist who has been honoured by several organisations for his service to humanity.
