One of the injured was admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here after incident that took place last night and his condition was stated to be stable, the officer said.
"Previous enmity was the cause of the clash," said sub-divisional police officer (Berhampur) Thakur Prasad Patra after preliminary investigation.
Eight persons from both groups have been detained for questioning, he said.
The situation in the area was under control though palpable tension prevailed, he said.
Patra said police force has been deployed in the area while police officers are camping there to prevent any untoward incident.
"Although the provocation for the fresh clash is not known, we suspect the same issue might be the cause," a policeman said.
