Two killed, 14 injured in road accident

Two persons were today killed while 14 others, including two school kids, were injured when a passenger bus collided with a school bus near Mehtan, four km from here, on a national highway.
The mishap occurred when driver of a Phagwara-bound passenger bus coming from Jalandhar lost control over the vehicle and collided with the school bus coming from opposite direction, police said here.
Deceased were identified as Paramjit Singh (30), driver of the school bus and Yadav Rai (23), assistant driver of the same bus, they said.
Injured included two school kids identified as Aryan and Kavish, both aged five, police said adding all of them were taken to a hospital here.
Driver of the passenger bus, identified as Ravinder Singh, fled from the scene, police said.
Senior police officers including Deputy Inspector General Gurminder Singh Dhillon, Senior Superintendent of Police Inderbir Singh visited the hospital to enquire about the wellbeing of the injured.
Police have registered a case under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of IPC against the passenger bus driver.
