The mishap occurred when a group of labourers, including women and children, were on their way from Himmatnagar to Modesi village, where houses for the state reserve police personnel are under construction, they said.
"Two persons were killed on the spot, while 17 others including women and children sustained injuries, when driver of the tempo in which they were travelling lost control of the vehicle near Idar," police sub-inspector K T Makwana said.
"The tempo turned turtle on Bhiloda road near Idar, along the road side," he said.
Out of the 17 injured, three have been admitted to a local hospital in Idar, while 14 others have been referred to Himmatnagar Civil hospital, Makwana said.
A case has been registered in this regard and further investigations are underway.
