The mishap occurred late last night when the bus, carrying pilgrims, was returning to Pune from Bhimashankar, an official of Khed police station said.
Around 90 pilgrims, majority of them are from Odisha had gone to Bhimashankar, one of the 12 'Jyotirlingas'. When the bus was on its way to Pune, its driver lost control while negotiating a sharp turn in the Kopri ghat and it overturned after hitting into road side barricades, he added.
The deceased were identified as Prafulla Sahoo (43) and Mamata Mishra (45), both residents of Deogarh district in Odisha, said the official, adding the pilgrims were planning to visit the Shani Shinganapur shrine in neighbouring Ahmednagar district.
