Talking to PTI by phone today, Radhakrishnan said police vigil has been stepped up in the city after an incident of stone-pelting reported from Bavamanpua in Panigate locality of the city late last night.
"It occurred when a group of people pelted stones at a Lord Ganesh procession passing through the area. Another group also pelted stones. This is a communally sensitive locality of the city," he said.
About five police personnel including police inspector J Vaghela were injured in the stone pelting, while two vehicles were damaged.
