The police nabbed Lhakpa Sherpa, 28, and his brother Pasang Sherpa, 26, from Jalbire of Sindhupalchok near Nepal's border with Tibet, autonomous region of China as they were carrying 8 kilogrammes gold while heading towards Kathmandu.
Police Inspector Manjil Mukarung at the Jalbire Police Post informed that the duo were arrested from Gumba Vallage Development Committee of the district while travelling on a passenger bus to Sindhupalchok district headquarters.
Each of them had hid four pieces of one-kg bars of the precious yellow metal under their waist belts, said the police.
Police nabbed them during a regular security check on the bus.
