Two policemen sentenced to 10 years RI in murder case

A court in Bihar's Nawada district today sentenced a serving policeman and a retired one to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 2000 on each after convicting them in the murder of a trader 29 years ago.
The Fast Track Court-II judge Vimal Kumar Sinha sentenced Additional Sub-inspector Laxman Sah, posted at present in Jharkhand's Chatra district, and retired Sub-inspector Ramchandra Prasad after finding them guilty in the death of Vishundhari Sonar, a trader.
Another policeman, Sudama Thakur, was acquitted for lack of evidence against him.
According to the prosecution, the two then posted at Qadirganj police station in Nawada district had fired on traders on March 18, 1984 after they refused to give them money for Holi, resulting in the death of Sonar, while two other traders were injured.
