The two trekkers rescued were identified as Anil from Hamirpur and Hitendra from Shimla were airlifted this morning and admitted to hospital at Kullu, official sources said.
Eight trekkers had gone missing in bad weather in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district. They were traced and six of them were rescued by ITBP troopers yesterday, nearly 70 hours after their disappearance.
After evacuating six of the trekkers, ITBP teams were forced to call off their rescue operation yesterday due to bad weather, officials said adding sufficient food and clothes were airdropped for the two remaining trekkers.
The stranded students had taken shelter in cave to save themselves from snow and extreme cold and on hearing the sound of helicopter, they waved and threw their sleeping bangs on the snow, helping the rescue parties to locate the spot.
