A local court today sentenced two persons, including a 30-year-old speech and hearing impaired man, to seven years imprisonment for robbing two women at knife point in 2013.
Salem District Chief Judicial Magistrate S Elangovan also imposed a fine of Rs 3000 each on the two convicts.
According to the prosecution, the two threw chilly powder on the women and snatched their gold chains here on May 16, 2013. Hearing their screams, locals caught hold of the speech and hearing impaired man, Karthikeyan.
His cousin, Ramesh, was arrested later, police said.
