Two shot dead over land dispute

An elderly man and his 15-year-old nephew were shot dead today over a land dispute in Bihar's Rohtas district, a police officer said.
The incident took place in Barhari village when the supporters of one Shiv Kumar Singh fired upon Suresh Kumar Singh (55) and his nephew Krishna Kumar (15) ahead of a panchayat meeting that was called to resolve land dispute between them, SDPO Ashish Anand said.
The uncle-nephew duo died on the spot, he said, adding that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
The police later arrested eight accused persons and charged them with the double murder case and seized nine rifles and a haul of ammunition from them, Anand said.

Additional policemen have been deployed in view of tension prevailing in the village, the SDPO said.
