Two surrender before court for derogatory speech against TN CM
Press Trust of India Coimbatore Two DMK platform speakers, wanted in connection with cases for making allegedly derogatory remarks against Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa a few months ago, today surrendered before the District Sessions Court here.
A case was registered against Karur Murali for uttering allegedly derogatory remarks against Jayalalithaa during a function to celebrate the birthday of DMK Partriach M Karunanidhi last year. However, Murali had been at large.
A similar case was registered against Karur Ganesh, another speaker for speaking against Jayalalithaa during the facilitation of anti-Hindi agitators in Mettupalayam in January last.
Both the cases came up for hearing in the Principal District Sessions Court today and Judge N Seshasayee posted the case for September nine.
He also ordered that copies of charge sheets be provided to them on that day.
