Two women labourers killed as mound of earth falls on them

Two women labourers were killed and as many number injured when a mound of earth fell on them in Mayurbhanj district, police said.
The labourers were working in an irrigation project at Jhadabeda when suddenly a mound of earth which which was formed after digging of mud from a canal suddenly caved in and fell on them, the police said.
The deceased, whose bodies were retrieved from under the heap of mud, were identified as Miru Hansda (38) and Champa Ho (35), Karanjia Police station, Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Laxmidhar Swain said.
Two others, one woman and a man, have been rushed to a government hospital at Karanjia, Swain said.

The work at the construction site was stopped after the accident due to public resentment, police said.
