Police said Riyaz Khan and Nayeem Bux had hurled a low-intensity cracker bomb towards the house of Birendra Pratap Swain, who is the elder brother ruling BJD legislator Ranendra Pratap Swain.
While the bomb explosion caused no damage to any life and property, Birendra, also president of Cuttack Urban Cooperative Bank and a former office bearer of Chandini Chowk puja committee, had lodged an FIR in local Lalbag police station.
Police after preliminary investigations said the motive behind the Monday's incident appears to be a previous rivalry between Riyaz and Birendra's son.
Meanwhile, police have also found out that both the youths have a history of criminal records. While Riyaz has seven criminal cases pending against him, Nayeem was wanted by the city police in at least two criminal cases.
