The Trans Yamuna Area Development Board (TYDAB) has sought an over seven-time increase in its budget, from the current Rs 20 crore to over Rs 150 crore.
The board, which works under the urban development department, has passed an agenda demanding at least Rs 10 crore for each of the 16 assembly constituencies that fall under it.
"Member legislators said the MLALAD funds are not sufficient for the development work in their areas. Therefore, the board adopted an agenda proposing a Rs 10-crore development fund for each constituency," a senior official said.
The proposal, he said, would now be sent to the finance department for final approval.
At present, each legislator gets Rs 4 crore under MLALAD per annum.
Trans-Yamuna areas largely have unauthorised colonies and slum clusters, and the lesgilators said the amount was not sufficient for basic infrastructure development.
The Delhi government had created the board in 1994 to promote infrastructure development and planned growth in trans-Yamuna localities.
Member of Parliament from East Delhi and North East Delhi, besides chairman of the ward committee of the EDMC are the members of the board.
