The decision was taken by the state cabinet at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat yesterday, Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik, who is also the official spokesman of the state government, said.
It was decided not to give any more work orders to Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam (UPRNN) due to "shoddy handling of the projects being carried out by the agency in the state", he said.
The UPRNN is working on projects worth Rs 4,444 crore in Uttarakhand, including a riverfront development project, government medical college in Dehradun, different residential projects of Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority, Ghantaghar complex and Vigyan dham Jhajhra.
There had been income tax raids last month at the residence of UPRNN General Manager Shiv Ashrey Sharma here following which he was replaced by B R Shah.
The state cabinet also decided to withdraw the carbon cess on petrol and diesel which will make them cheaper by 25 paise and 50 paise per litre in the state, respectively.
