The proposed amount of Rs 5.34 crore will be presented to the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests for its final clearance, Chief Secretary N Ravishankar said after the NDBR meeting chaired by him to give his nod to the proposal.
The first world heritage site in the Himalayas, the Nandadevi biosphere reserve (NDBR) is spread over an area of 6407.03 square KM in Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand.
It has a 712.12 square km core zone consisting of the famous Nandadevi National Park and Valley of Flowers, a 5148. 57 km buffer zone and an as big transitional zone comprising 99 villages together.
