U'Khand govt to lay down rules for cannabis cultivation

In view of commercial utility of cannabis, Uttarakhand government has decided to set rules for its cultivation in the state and explore availability of market avenues.
The decision was taken at a meeting with experts in the field chaired by Chief Secretary Shatrughna Singh, an official release here said.
It was decided to lay down a set of rules for cannabis cultivation in the state and explore availability of market avenues for cannabis produce .
Experts at the meeting held that cannabis fibres are used in automobile, aircraft, textile, furniture, paper and pulp industries, the release said.
It was decided that cannabis which has industrial utility can be cultivated in unused agricultural land available in the hilly areas.
