Paediatricians in India can now get the prestigious diploma in child health from UK's Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH).
Kolkata's AMRI Hospital has tied up with RCPCH under which a two-day examination was conducted here last week for the first time outside UK.
Around 32 Indian doctors aspiring to acquire this coveted qualification from across India sat for test.
Rupak Barua, CEO AMRI Hospitals said until now this diploma was only available for doctors who could travel to UK and take the clinical examination there.
"Our association with RCPCH has enabled many aspiring doctors to appear for the examination in India itself without the need to travel outside. This examination sets the benchmark for international paediatric education among doctors," he said.
They now want to hold this examination regularly in India to help Indian practitioners gain worldwide recognition in paediatric care.
