UK teens invent condom that detects STIs

A revolutionary new condom that changes colour when it comes into contact with sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia and syphilis has been invented by a group of school children in the UK.
The 'S.T.EYE' condom would change colour to warn couples if a strain of bacteria is present so that they can take immediate action in the privacy of their own homes without the invasive procedures at a clinic.
The condom comes with a built-in indicator that transforms the condom into a different colour every time it comes into contact with a different strain of bacteria.
The students - Daanyaal Ali, 14, Muaz Nawaz, 13 and Chirag Shah, 14 - from Isaac Newton Academy in Ilford, Essex won the TeenTech award for best health innovation.

S.T.EYE can detect infections, including chlamydia and syphilis, the Telegraph reported.
"We created the S.T.EYE as a new way for STI detection to help the future of the next generation," said Daanyaal.

"We wanted to create something that makes detecting harmful STIs safer than ever before, so that people can take immediate action in the privacy of their own homes without the invasive procedures at the doctors," he said.
The teenagers have won a prize of 1,000 pounds and a visit to Buckingham Palace for their innovation.
"We've made sure we're able to give peace of mind to users and make sure people can be even more responsible than ever before," Daanyaal added.
