The Centre has accepted a proposal by Uttarakhand Governor Krishan Kant Paul, seeking a revival and archiving of memories of the great literary creator and one of the major proponents of Chhayavaadi school of Hindi literature, Sumitranandan Pant, a press release from Raj Bhavan said today.
The consent nod was given by Ravishankar Prasad, Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology and it is said that the postage stamp will be released on December 23.
Influenced by the inherent natural beauty, modernity, philosophy and humanistic approach in Pant's creations, the Governor had made a proposal of launching a postage stamp in memory of the late literary giant.
The great Hindi poet was born on 20th May, 1900 at Kausani village of Almora district in Uttarakhand.
